Child Citizen Orchestra presents for the first time in Argentina

CCO students, conducted by maestro Nilson Galvo Jr., will participate in three concerts in Argentine ground

Between July 7th and the 12th, the Child Citizen Orchestra performs a series of three concerts in Buenos Aires, with a varied musical program designed for the first trip of the socio-musical project from Recife to the Argentine soil. The presentations will take place at the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral, the Luna Park Stadium and in the Synagogue of the Israelite Argentine Congregation (Templo Libertad). The complete repertoire will be available on a hotsite that will be online until this weekend.

The invitation to the CCO came from the national coordinator of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Argentina, Pino Scafuro. The CCR traditionally organizes an annual meeting, which, in 2018, will take place at the Luna Park Stadium on the Argentine Independence Day: July 9th. According to Pino, the theme of the event will be "inspiration as an extraordinary force to promote transcendent changes in the community".

"The meeting will have several examples of people who have felt an inspiration, believed in it and materialized it, and how such inspiration have changed the world around them," explains the coordinator of the CCR, who met CCO during a visit to the capital of Pernambuco.

"It seems to me a magnificent example of supernatural inspiration, which has revealed the hidden talent of so many young people who have awakened from their great needs believing that their dreams were possible. I met them in Recife and they told me: We have a dream: to play in Rome for Pope Francis and the dream came true!"

Pino also had the idea of the Concert for the Peace, where three pieces will be performed in the most important synagogue in Argentina: one by a Christian composer, other by a Jew one and another by a Muslim one, chosen by the conductor of the Child Citizen Orchestra, Nilson Galvo Jr. The concert aims to evidence religious tolerance among believers of different faiths.

TRIPS - The first Brazilian orchestra from a social project to perform for a pope, in 2014; to appear at UN Headquarters, in New York, at the official 70-years Unicef ceremony, in December 2016; and to go on tour in a South American country, besides to be the first Brazilian orchestra to record a DVD in Italy, the album "Bach Concerts for violin and orchestra by Child Citizen Orchestra and Yoko Kubo", in November 2015.

The secret of the pioneering of the Child Citizen Orchestra is in the message of citizenship that carries on its name. Created in 2006 by the judge Joo Jos Rocha Targino along with maestro Cussy de Almeida, the CCO emerged as a project of the Child Citizen Beneficent Association (ABCC), founded to rescue the citizenship of street dwellers who wandered in Imperador Street, close to the Pernambuco Court of Justice (TJPE).

ACTIVITIES - The Child Citizen Project, designed by the late Judge Nildo Nery dos Santos (1934-2018) when he was president of the TJPE, between 2000 and 2002, disengaged from the court and gave rise to the CCBA in 2003. Until now, CCBA has decided to invest in art and culture, and saw in the Coque community, around the largest forum in the capital of Pernambuco, the fertile ground to discover talent and to form citizens.

Today, CCO has three cores in the cities of Recife, Ipojuca and Igarassu and serves 360 children and adolescents, from 07 to 21 years old. The most successful student of the project is the double bass player Antonino Tertuliano, who was approved by the Goiania Symphony Orchestra in 2013 and selected to study at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv (Israel) in 2016, where he currently lives. The school has as honorary president the celebrated Indian maestro Zubin Mehta.

The Child Citizen Orchestra is a project managed by the Child Citizen Beneficent Association, with the encouragement of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture through the Rouanet Law and master sponsorship of the Ipojuca City Hall (Ipojuca Core) and Caixa Economica Federal, Federal Government (Coque Core).

The journey of the Child Citizen Orchestra to Argentina is supported by the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco and the Secretariat of Social Development, Children and Youth (SDSCJ) of the state of Pernambuco.
